Privacy Policy

Yu Li built the Tabverse app as an Open Source app. This SERVICE is provided by Yu Li at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding my policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use my Service.

If you choose to use my Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that I collect is used for providing and improving the Service. I will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our User Agreement unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

Tabverse stores your data on your own device (in the browser's local database). By default nothing is transmitted anywhere, and the app works fully without an account or a network connection.

On-device AI

Where Chrome ships its built-in AI model, Tabverse can suggest a name for a tab collection, summarize a page into a note, and hold a chat about a page you attach. These run entirely on this device: the text is handed to the model inside the browser and is never sent anywhere - not to us, not to a third party. The model itself is downloaded once by Chrome when you first use a feature; Tabverse makes no network request of its own for it, and without Chrome's built-in model the AI features simply do not appear.

Reading a page is always something you ask for. When you use the page-actions lightbulb on a live tab - to view the page as Markdown, to summarize it into a note, or to attach it to the AI chat - Tabverse reads that tab's rendered content on demand and turns it into the note, the dialog or the chat context. Nothing is read in the background, nothing is read from a page you did not click, and the page's content is never synced. A summary you keep is an ordinary note, and syncs like any other note if you have sync on.

Optional server sync

You can choose to pair your browser with your own sync server (an open source Go program called tabversed). Only when you do this: setting up the connection sends the data already stored on this device - the dialog tells you how many tabverses, tabs, notes, todos and bookmarks that is before you confirm, and you can untick a box to connect without sending anything, keeping your existing data on the device. Either way, what reaches the server is sent to the server you configured over an encrypted connection:

  • tab URLs and titles, saved tab groups, notes, todos and bookmarks
  • periodically captured session snapshots (window/tab listings)

Console accounts. You can sign in to the server's own web console to add devices and look at your data. Signing in means either a single-use link sent to your email address - there is no password to store anywhere - or GitHub or Google, and only if the server operator configured that. Signing in and creating the account are two steps: the account is created when you finish the Create your account page, which stores your email address (what the link was sent to, or what the sign-in provider returned - with Google, the address you gave Google, and whether Google reports it as verified), records your agreement to the user agreement, and, on an invite-only server, takes the invitation code you were given. It is never sent anywhere else. Sessions are cookies on that server only, and an operator of a multi-user server can open a read only, time limited, logged view of your account to answer support questions; they cannot change anything that way. The console has no master password or token: the person who runs the server is an ordinary account, identified by an address the operator configured, and every action taken in the console is recorded against an account.

That data is used solely to synchronise your own devices. It is never sold, never shared with third parties, and never sent to any other host than the server URL you entered. Server side retention removes session snapshots after 14 days by default (configurable, 0 keeps them forever). You can disconnect at any time from the sync dialog; your local copy remains untouched.

The extension itself has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. An account exists only on a server you choose to pair with, and only if you create one there.

I want to inform you that whenever you use my Service, in a case of an error in the app I collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data.
